Role: Jerry Burton
A dashing WWI RAF veteran who is trying to deal with the fact that he actually survived the war by sleeping aroung and consuming as much alcohol that a human body can take. After a drunken motorcycle lands him in the hospital with crutches, his doctor prescribes fresh country air to help him along his slow recovery. His sister, Joanna whisks him off to the bucolic village of Lymstock, which seems like a perfectly ordinary, sleepy english village. Clearly, everyone knows if you want an uneventful recuperation one needs to stay in the city.
Plot: The wickedly handsome Jerry Burton and his devilish sister Joanna head to the sleepy village of Lymstock as Jerry recuperates from a motorcycle accident, but find life in the country wilder than they ever imagined. A poison pen letter writer has the locals up in arms and apparently queueing up to kill themselves. Events unfold from Jerry’s point of view. So in this story, he is very much like Mr. Marple.

Quotes from the film:
Joanna Burton: [to Jerry] You know, it's striking me as most extraordinary irony that you managed to survive the war with such flying colors yet seem to find the peace so defeating.
D'Arcy is fairly good as the main leading actor, he is quite interesting and doesn't push to steal the film from anyone else - IMDb review
This mystery includes a wonderful cast, and, I'm pleased to say Miss Marple doesn't seem to be the main character. James D'Arcy is wonderful, and Frances de la Tour never ceases to amaze --- IMDb review
Told in part from the point of view of one of the characters (Jerry Burton, who also narrates some of his scenes), this episode is directed with a bit of whimsy, with shots from unusual angles and scenes filled with bright colors. The plot is clever and filled with misdirection --- omnimystery.com
